I'm a writer, editor, and teacher. (And believer in the Oxford comma.)

My essays have won awards in StoryQuarterly's 2016 Nonfiction Contest judged by Meghan Daum and will appear alongside work by Ander Monson, Brenda Miller, David Shields, and Jenny Boully in the forthcoming anthology, THE SHELL GAME, published by University of Nebraska Press. My work has also appeared in South Dakota Review, JSTOR Daily, and In Context Journal and has been supported by fellowships and scholarship awards from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Vermont Studio Center, and Slice Literary Conference.

I also write about food for places like Extra Crispy, Modern Farmer, Bon Appetit, and House Beautiful. I was the founding editor in chief of Yahoo Food and make a mean pimento cheese.
